DIMAPUR, AUG 18 (NPN): Successful Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) candidates shared their journeys of perseverance, failures and eventual success during a felicitation programme organised by Edufy Institute, Dimapur, on Tuesday.
Centre Head Tolika Achumi delivered the welcome address, followed by a special presentation by Kivi Aye. Arvind Damani, BJYM national executive member, delivered words of encouragement, while Edufy Institute chairman V. Khekato Awomi delivered a short speech.
Among the achievers, Richumong T, who secured Rank 4 and was selected as Extra Assistant Commissioner (Class I Gazetted, Junior Grade) under the Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms, shared his journey from failing the prelims in 2022 to clearing the examination in his first mains and interview attempt. He said discipline and consistency were more important than temporary motivation, urging aspirants to cultivate small habits that shape the future. He encouraged candidates to embrace failures with courage, stressing that success may give recognition but character gives meaning to a person’s name.
“Success may give a person a name, but character gives meaning to that name,” he remarked, recalling an interview anecdote where he told the board he was “rich at heart.”
Another successful candidate, Nchang Khuzuakbo Hutan, selected as Technical Assistant (Class III Non Gazetted) in the Department of Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, credited Edufy Institute’s crash course, mock tests and interview guidance for his success. He urged aspirants to maintain a disciplined routine and cultivate the habit of reading newspapers to stay updated on current affairs and government initiatives.
Sharing his long journey, Kakito Chishi, selected as Inspector of Industries & Economic Investigator (Class III Non Gazetted) in the Department of Industries & Commerce, recounted repeated setbacks since 2019 before achieving success. He spoke candidly about failing prelims, multiple interview disappointments and the mental toll of competitive examinations. He advised aspirants not to wait until they felt fully prepared, stressing that confidence begins with taking the first step. He urged students to adopt smart study strategies and focus on resilience and discipline to overcome failures.
Reflecting on his years of preparation, Chishi said the greatest challenge was not studying but managing the mental pressure of repeated failures and watching peers succeed ahead of him. He encouraged aspirants to remain focused despite setbacks, emphasising that motivation is temporary but discipline sustains success.
