DIMAPUR, AUG 19 (NPN): Kiphire District GBs’ Association (KDGBA) has strongly opposed the short-term maintenance contract announced for National Highway-202, saying the decision failed to address the district’s longstanding road connectivity needs.
In a press release, KDGBA president K Tsilise, GB, and general secretary Hopise, GB, said decisions concerning public infrastructure should be guided by fairness, transparency and equal consideration of the interests of all affected districts.
The association expressed concern that while several districts in Nagaland had benefited from two-lane and four-lane roads for years, Kiphire district continued to face inadequate basic road connectivity.
KDGBA said the district’s longstanding developmental needs, particularly in terms of road infrastructure, should not be overlooked.
The association maintained that every citizen was entitled to equitable development, safe connectivity and fair treatment under the Constitution and the rule of law.
KDGBA has, therefore, urged the competent authority to review the decision on the short-term maintenance contract and take immediate and appropriate measures to address Kiphire’s concerns in a lawful, equitable and responsible manner.
