The Mokokchung Photography Club (MPC) observed World Photography Day on August 18 under the theme “Home”, celebrating the art of photography and its ability to capture creativity, memories, culture and stories.
Project Director, DRDA Mokokchung, Imyapangla graced the programme as guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Imyapangla said photography was more than just taking pictures, as it preserved memories and helped safeguard cultural heritage for future generations.
She also highlighted photography as a potential source of livelihood, saying young people with talent and determination could build successful careers through the profession. She noted that the field offered considerable career opportunities and encouraged photographers to continue learning, experimenting and documenting their surroundings while recognising the value of their work.
As part of the celebration, the MPC organised a mobile phone photography competition on the theme “Home”. Odichuba emerged as the winner, while Akangkokba and Tekatemjen secured the second and third positions, respectively. The prizes were presented by the guest of honour.
The programme concluded with a photography exhibition, which was inaugurated by Imyapangla.
