DIMAPUR: The Scheme Implementing Agency of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS)- Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students of Nagaland, under the Department of Higher Education, has issued a clarification on the application and disbursement process of the scholarship.
According to DIPR report, the scholarship is provided to eligible ST students of Nagaland who have passed Matriculation, Higher Secondary or higher examinations from recognised universities/boards, subject to prescribed eligibility criteria, verification and approval by competent authorities.
Eligible students must submit their applications online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in and also submit hard copies to their respective institutions within the stipulated timeline. Applications are first verified by the Institute Nodal Officer (INO) at the institution level, and subsequently scrutinised and approved by the State Nodal Officer (SNO). Applications marked “Defective” at either level must be rectified online within the given timeline, after which no modifications will be permitted.
The scheme follows a funding pattern of 90% contribution from the Government of India and 10% from the State Government. Scholarships are disbursed after receipt of funds from the Central Ministry. Students are advised to ensure that their bank accounts are Aadhar seeded and enabled for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to avoid delays in payment. They are also required to check their application status periodically on the NSP portal and complete necessary steps within the timeline provided.
The department cautioned that submission of an application does not guarantee scholarship payment, as selection depends on the accuracy and validity of information and documents uploaded. Students and parents/guardians are advised to rely only on official communications issued by the Directorate of Higher Education and designated scholarship websites, and to refrain from relying on unverified sources or intermediaries.
For further clarification, students may contact their respective institutions or scholarship authorities during office hours (9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) through the following channels: Email: hescholarship@gmail.com and contact: 9863772522.
