Mon police busts inter-state drugs network

DIMAPUR, AUG 20 (NPN): In one of its biggest anti-drug operations, Mon Police has busted an inter-state drug trafficking network and seized approximately 800 grams of heroin, locally known as “Shan Flower”.
According to Mon Police, the consignment was being transported from Mon to Sonari, Assam, from where it was to be further moved to Dimapur.
Based on specific intelligence, Mon Police launched a coordinated operation and arrested three persons identified as Nokteih, Poungying and Pulei, who were allegedly responsible for sending the consignment from Mon.
Based on their interrogation and further intelligence developed during the investigation, Mon Police, in coordination with Charaideo Police, Assam, arrested the intended receiver, Md. Taher Hussain, near Sonari.
Subsequently, with the assistance of Dimapur Police Commissionerate, two women, D. Robila Roziine and Kaili Aye, who were allegedly to receive the consignment in Dimapur from Hussain, were also arrested.
The operation continued for nearly three days, during which the entire chain– from the source in Mon to the intermediate receiver and facilitator in Sonari and the intended recipients in Dimapur– was identified and disrupted.
The operation was carried out by Mon Police under the supervision of the Director General of Police, with coordination and support from the Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTF) of Assam and Nagaland, Assam Police and Dimapur Police.
Police said the operation would send a strong message to those involved in drug trafficking and related activities.
It appealed to the public to share information regarding drug trafficking, including financiers, mule accounts, carriers, couriers, transporters and those involved in storage or sale. The identity of informants would be kept confidential, it said.
Mon Police also appealed to well-wishers of drug users to contact Nagaland Police through appropriate channels so that the supply chain could be disrupted and drugs prevented from reaching them. Further investigation is continuing.
