CSU condemns assault on minor student at Chiephobozou

DIMAPUR: The Chiechama Students’ Union (CSU) has strongly condemned the physical assault of a 10-year-old boy, a bona fide member of the union, by Mhasikhoto Kulnu, 38, of Jakhama Village, who serves as a warden at a private hostel in Chiephobozou town.
In a statement, CSU described the incident as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable,” stressing that no form of discipline can justify physically harming a child.
The union asserted its firm stand against all forms of abuse, violence and intimidation of students, warning that such actions must not be normalized under the guise of discipline. The CSU urged the concerned authorities to conduct a fair and impartial investigation, examine all evidence and take appropriate legal and departmental action in accordance with the law. It also called for measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the minor, protecting him from further harm, intimidation or retaliation.
Reaffirming its commitment to student welfare, the union stated it will continue to uphold the safety, dignity and rights of minors, stressing that the protection of every child must remain a priority.
