DIMAPUR: Department of Linguistics, NU, Kohima Campus, organised a two day international workshop on “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Preservation of Indigenous Languages: Challenges and Opportunities.” According to a press release, the event brought together linguists, technologists and policy practitioners to examine technological approaches to language documentation, digital access and interdisciplinary strategies for scaling up indigenous language preservation.
Resource persons included Dr. Prasanna Ramakrishnan, senior lecturer, faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia; Vijayakumar Krishnan, Senior Data & Analytics Consultant, Chennai; Olga V. Glukhova, Associate Professor, Rostov State University of Economics, Russia; Dr. Soo Koung Jun, Associate Professor, Namseoul University, South Korea; and Er. Saranya Muthusamy, CEO, Bonfring Consulting Services, India.
