SHILLONG, AUG 22 (AGENCIES): Meghalaya Police has constituted a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe violence, arson, vandalism and assaults during and after the Khasi Students’ Union two-wheeler rally and black flag march in Shillong on August 19.
The SIT, headed by IGP (Law & Order) DNR Marak, will identify and apprehend those involved by analysing CCTV footage and other evidence.
It will investigate all cases linked to the rally, examine organisers’ compliance with permission conditions and ensure a fair, impartial and time-bound probe. The team may include additional personnel if required. The violence involved damage to public and private property and assaults on civilians and police personnel.
