DIMAPUR, AUG 24 (NPN): A multi-institutional international study involving Nagaland University (NU) has proposed an integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) framework to promote ethical decision-making, transparency, environmental sustainability and organisational resilience in AI-driven digital platforms.
The Nagaland University study argues that Artificial Intelligence governance should go beyond regulatory compliance to strengthen stakeholder trust, accountability and long-term organisational and environmental sustainability. It brings AI governance, organisational resilience, ethical decision-making and environmental sustainability within a single framework.
The research adopted a mixed-methods approach involving 185 managers, sustainability officers, governance experts and AI specialists from organisations using AI-enabled environmental and digital platform systems.
The findings were published in NESciences (Natural and Engineering Sciences).
The paper was co-authored by Dr. Mohammed Shamsul Hoque of Southeast University, Dhaka; Dr. R. Vasanthan, Associate Professor, Department of English, Nagaland University; Dr. Khriereizhünuo Dzüvichü of Central University of Tamil Nadu; Dr. Olga Glukhova of Rostov State University of Economics, Russia; and Dr. P. Shanmuga Sundari of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
NU vice-chancellor Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik said AI’s growing influence on decision-making required technological advancement to be guided by ethical principles, institutional accountability and long-term sustainability. He said the international collaboration reflected NU’s engagement with contemporary global challenges.
Dr. Vasanthan said AI governance was not merely about regulating technology but enabling organisations to use AI responsibly while ensuring transparency, accountability, public interest and ethical decision-making.
He said the framework could assist policymakers, industry leaders and researchers in designing responsible Artificial Intelligence strategies that promote sustainable development and strengthen stakeholder trust.
The researchers said the framework could support responsible Artificial Intelligence adoption, strengthen organisational resilience, enhance transparency and accountability, and contribute to sustainable environmental management.
