3 cattle smugglers held in Goalpara

Guwahati, Aug 25 (PTI): Three suspected cattle smugglers have been arrested and 20 cows rescued in Assam’s Goalpara district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday.
The cattle were being allegedly smuggled in a country boat, he said. “No matter where the routes of cattle smuggling lead, no one can escape the grip of the law,” Sarma said in a social media post. He said Goalpara Police rescued the cows while being illegal transported in a country boat, and arrested three accused. He, however, did not specify when the operation was carried out.“Cattle protection is our priority, and operations against smuggling networks will continue,” the chief minister asserted. The latest operation comes a day after 36 suspected cattle smugglers were arrested and 106 livestock rescued in Biswanath district on Sunday.
