DIMAPUR, AUG 25 (NPN): The Nagaland Athletics Association has announced that its honorary treasurer, Neingulie Nakhro, represented Nagaland at the AFI Commentators Workshop 2026, held from August 20 to 22 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
Nakhro was nominated by the association to participate in the three-day workshop, organised by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) as part of its initiative to build a strong and professional ecosystem of athletics commentators and announcers across the country.
The workshop was led by internationally acclaimed broadcaster Richard Newman and Olympic medallist and Emmy-winning broadcaster Shannon Rowbury, who provided participants with valuable insights into athletics broadcasting, including live commentary and in-stadium announcing during the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver, Bhubaneswar 2026.
A highlight of the programme was the practical session at Kalinga Stadium, where participants gained first-hand exposure to the preparation and real-time communication required for delivering commentary at an international athletics event. The session also offered an opportunity to observe the demands of professional announcing in a live competition environment featuring over 180 athletes from more than 20 countries.
The Nagaland Athletics Association described Nakhro’s participation as a meaningful learning opportunity that would contribute to strengthening the athletics ecosystem in Nagaland and enhance the availability of skilled personnel for athletics events and communication.
Congratulating Nakhro, the association expressed appreciation to the AFI for the opportunity and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote professional development and contribute to the growth of athletics in Nagaland and across India.
