DIMAPUR: NPF Central Youth Wing (CYW) conducted a goodwill visit to the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home on August 26, 2026 as part of its monthly activity.
The programme was chaired by Kezhavicha Vüprü, vice president, with invocation by Kiutang Paul, secretary. In his presidential address, NPF CYW president, N. Akok Longkumer highlighted the purpose of the visit, reiterating the leadership of Dr. Neiphiu Rio. He outlined the youth wing’s activities including health campaigns for grassroots welfare and CMHIS enrolment, a 5k marathon across five districts to promote fitness and unity, and philanthropic outreach to three orphanages in Tuensang and Kohima. He said the visit was an expression of love and concern for the children, affirming that the government cares for every citizen and wished the children success in their future.
Delivering a short speech, Achamo Kikon, working president, NPF, shared the love of God and encouraged the children to not lose heart but to dream big, citing the rise of Ratan Tara, an orphan who achieved prominence. He expressed hope in the potential of young children to become valuable resources for society and distributed sweets on behalf of Dr. Neiphiu Rio.
The children presented a musical piece “I Have Faith in Jesus” and a group song “I’ve Got Joy.” A resident of the home, Zubeen, spoke on behalf of the children, thanking the CYW for the visit and sharing a brief note on the home’s activities.
The orphanage currently houses 80 residents-27 females and 53 males-ranging from infants to 18 years and above, including specially abled children and elderly persons. Most study at Government Middle School up to Class 8, while others pursue education in different institutions through philanthropic support. Musical instruments sponsored by A.R. Rahman are being utilised under the guidance of a dedicated teacher through TaFMA, enabling the children to perform at various platforms. Some are also undergoing cricket training.
The home extended gratitude to all well wishers for their support and prayers, expressing thanks through a prayer of blessing.
