Three-day Tripura Assembly session from today

Agartala, Aug 26 (PTI): A three-day session of the Tripura Assembly would commence on August 27, Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Paul said on Wednesday.
He said two-three Bills are scheduled to be tabled during the session, apart from discussion on various issues.
This would be the third sitting of the Assembly in the current calendar year.
“We are in favour of convening a short session instead of having a week-long one to ensure effective business of the House. Both treasury and opposition benches have agreed to it. If the situation requires, we can call a fourth sitting this calendar year,” he said.
Congress MLA Birajit Singha said the party’s legislators would raise important issues, including people’s anger over a hike in power tariff, unemployment and deteriorating law and order during the three-day session.
“The Congress will also raise the issue of the government’s move to abolish the Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) requirement for government jobs. This will facilitate job aspirants from outside the state to grab state government jobs. We can’t let that happen in the interest of our youth,” he said.
Recently, the state cabinet cleared a proposal to abolish the PRTC requirement for government jobs in the northeastern state, following a “view of the High Court”, causing anger among the unemployed youth in the state.
