Mokokchung DPDB approves new society registrations, school upgrades

DIMAPUR: The monthly meeting of the Mokokchung District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) was held on August 27, at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman of DPDB Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma.
According to a DIPR report, the session began with a review of the minutes from the previous meeting, followed by discussion on the Action Taken Report. During the meeting, the board approved the registration of two local societies – Chuchuyimpang Students Union Society and Woods Foundation based in Kumlong Ward.
The board also cleared the change of nomenclature for Hills Night High School, which will now be known as Hills High School, along with its relocation from Arkong Ward to Nokra Compound, Chuchuyimpang.
Briefing the members on upcoming activities, Additional Deputy Commissioner Atsungba Walling announced that an Inter-Departmental Sports Meet will be held from September 29 to October 1, 2026. A 24-member committee has been constituted to oversee the event. The meeting also featured a detailed PowerPoint presentation by the District Project Officer of Land Resources Development (LRD), highlighting departmental activities and achievements. It was decided that the Horticulture Department will present its activities in the next monthly meeting.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks from the DC.
