NSDMA forecasts rain, t-storms across state

DIMAPUR, AUG 29 (NPN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast continued rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning across the state from August 30 to September 2, 2026 with moderate to heavy rain likely in several districts.
On August 30, NSDMA said thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rain were likely in Dimapur, while Mokokchung could receive moderate to heavy rain. Chümoukedima, Longleng, Meluri, Mon and Tseminyu are also at risk of thunderstorms and lightning. Light to moderate rain is likely in Niuland, Peren, Wokha and Zunheboto, while light rain is expected in Kiphire, Kohima, Noklak, Phek, Shamator and Tuensang.
On August 31, moderate to heavy rain is likely in Meluri, Niuland and Wokha. Scattered light to moderate rain is expected in Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kiphire, Kohima, Mon, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Tseminyu and Zunheboto, while Mokokchung and Tuensang may receive light rain.
On September 1, moderate to heavy rain is likely in Chümoukedima, Kiphire, Meluri, Mokokchung, Niuland, Noklak and Wokha. Scattered light to moderate rain is expected in Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng, Mon, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu and Zunheboto, while Tuensang may receive light to moderate rain.
On September 2, thunderstorms and lightning are likely in Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto. Light to moderate rain is expected in Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Noklak, Phek and Shamator, with scattered light to moderate rain likely in Kiphire and Meluri.
NSDMA advised the public to monitor the latest weather updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and NSDMA Weather Portal, follow official advisories and exercise caution during thunderstorms and periods of rainfall.
