Rain triggers flood-like situation in Dimapur

Staff Reporter

DIMAPUR, AUG 29 (NPN): Heavy rain Friday night triggered another flood-like situation in Dimapur, inundating several low-lying areas, including Supermarket, Netaji Colony, Vilhume Colony, Burma Camp and Medical Colony.
Overflowing drains and inadequate drainage channels caused temporary waterlogging, though the situation improved and returned to normal by around 10-11am Saturday.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in adjoining Assam sharply raised the Lengri Pani water level, flooding several border areas of Dimapur, including Lengrijan, River-belt Colony, Notun Basti and LRC. Don Bosco Higher Secondary School also witnessed a flood-like situation.
No casualties or loss of life were reported from the affected areas as of the time of filing this report.
