WOKHA, AUG 29 (NPN): The 2nd edition of the Inter-School Volleyball League 2026 concluded at the Public Ground, Wokha on August 29, with Gilgal School Wokha and Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School clinching the championship titles in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively.
Organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland, in collaboration with the Wokha District Volleyball Association, the tournament was held under the theme, “Play with Passion, Win with Respect.” A total of nine schools competed in the boys’ category, while six schools participated in the girls’ category. In the girls’ category, Gilgal School Wokha emerged victorious, defeating St. Peter School Wokha, who finished as runners-up. In the boys’ category, Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School secured the championship title, with St. Peter School taking the runners-up position.
Special recognition was given to teams for discipline: Little Angels School received the Best Discipline award in the boys’ category, while Santsuo School was adjudged the Best Disciplined team in the girls’ category. Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao, graced the closing ceremony as the special guest. In his address, he encouraged students to take sports seriously as part of their co-curricular activities, stressing the importance of dedication, discipline and respect for opponents. He highlighted the role of teamwork and sportsmanship in shaping character and urged students to actively engage in sporting activities rather than remain idle.
The DC further noted that consistent effort and commitment could open opportunities for students to compete at higher levels and even represent the nation in the future. He extended his best wishes to all participants and called for greater involvement in sports across the district.
