DIMAPUR: Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, has informed the public that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Photo Electoral Rolls is being carried out across the state to ensure fair, inclusive, accurate and error free electoral rolls.
In connection with the exercise, the DC’s office clarified that no documents are required to be submitted along with the Enumeration Form at this stage, except for the photograph. It further stated that Aadhaar cards or any other identity or supporting documents should not be collected by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the house to house distribution and collection of forms, a DIPR report stated.
Electors must not be subjected to inconvenience or compelled to produce documents not prescribed under the instructions for the SIR exercise. Documents will only be required in cases where an elector’s name cannot be mapped with the previous SIR 2005 Electoral Roll or where logical discrepancies are detected after the publication of the draft rolls. Such electors will be required to appear before the respective Assembly Constituency Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) during the period of disposal of claims and objections, with documentary proof.
The Deputy Commissioner’s office appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to BLOs and ensure that duly filled Enumeration Forms are handed over during their house to house visits. It added that such cooperation is essential for the smooth and successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls in Wokha district.
