Nurse found murdered in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD, AUG 30 (PTI): A 21-year-old nurse belonging to ST community was found murdered with bleeding injuries on her face here, police said on Sunday.
Expressing shock over the death, state Women and Child Welfare Minister D Anasuya Seethakka, called DGP CV Anand over the phone and told him to conduct a high-level and thorough inquiry over the incident.
Steps should be taken without delay to expedite the probe and to ensure justice to the bereaved family, she said in an official release.
The woman, a native of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, was found dead on Saturday in a room near the hospital where she worked.
Hospital staff discovered her and alerted the police.
“There were bleeding injuries on her face. She is suspected to have been murdered by an unidentified person,” a senior police official said. One person was taken into custody in connection with the murder.
The official said police were investigating the circumstances surrounding her death from all angles.
Police were also examining whether there was an attempt to sexually assault her and were awaiting the medical report.
A murder case has been registered at Pahadi Shareef police station.
Soon after coming to know about the incident, Seethakka spoke to local police and other officials and obtained details. The officials informed the minister that the accused person was taken into custody.
She warned that tough action would be taken against those committing crimes against women. Conveying condolences to the bereaved family, the minister assured that the government would extend all possible help to the family, the release said.
Following the minister’s directives, officials of the Women and Child Welfare department visited the Pahadi Shareef police station and took details of the case. The officials submitted a preliminary report to Seethakka.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders alleged that police tried to suppress the facts in the incident.
BJP’s Maheshwaram Assembly constituency incharge Andela Sriramulu and other leaders visited the state-run Osmania General Hospital where a post-mortem on the woman’s body was being performed.
