DIMAPUR: District Task Force (DTF), Mokokchung, launched the Pan India Rescue & Rehabilitation Campaign 4.0 in commemoration of World Day Against Child Labour. The campaign, held under the theme “Red Card to Child Labour-Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults,” ran from June 12 to August 31.
According to a press release from DTF Mokokchung, the campaign aimed to create greater awareness on child labour and encourage communities, employers and business establishments to ensure children are protected from work, particularly hazardous and unsafe environments.
The month long initiative commenced with poster campaigns and sensitisation programmes targeting workers, proprietors and members of the public. The DTF has consistently highlighted the harmful effects of child labour and urged employers to refrain from engaging children in work.
As part of the campaign, discussions, verification drives and visits were conducted across various establishments, including restaurants, cafés and vehicular workshops, to check and sensitise proprietors on child labour provisions and the need to provide children with a safe environment for growth and education.
The release informed that the campaign reinforced the message that children should be in school and protected from exploitation, while adults should have access to safe and decent employment opportunities.
DTF Mokokchung also called upon business owners, workers and the general public to cooperate with the campaign and play an active role in preventing child labour in the district.
