DIMAPUR, SEP 2 (NPN): In an effort to promote peace, development, physical fitness and a healthy society through sports, the 173 Battalion CRPF, Dimapur has announced the organisation of sporting events under the Khelo India – “Sports for Peace and Development” initiative. The events will be held at three different venues in and around Dimapur during September 2026.
Competitions will include badminton for men at the G/173 Bn CRPF ground, Industrial Village, Hill View Colony, Dimapur; badminton for women at B/173 Bn CRPF, CHISR Hospital Campus, 4th Mile, Chümoukedima; and men’s volleyball at E/173 Bn CRPF, Industrial Village, Hill View Colony, Dimapur. Attractive prizes have been announced for winners and runners-up in each category, along with certificates. All participants will be provided with T-shirts and refreshments during the events.
The initiative seeks to encourage participation from youth and members of the local community, spreading the message of peace, unity, discipline, fitness, sportsmanship and social harmony. Through these competitions, the 173 Bn CRPF aims to foster a culture of physical fitness, healthy living and community involvement, while inspiring young people to engage in constructive activities and imbibe values of discipline, teamwork, mutual respect and national unity.
Sports, the organisers noted, have the unique ability to bring people together, transcend social barriers and foster camaraderie. By hosting the Khelo India – “Sports for Peace and Development” initiative, the 173 Bn CRPF hopes to strengthen the bond between the Central Armed Police Forces and the local community, while providing a positive platform for youth to showcase their talent.
The programme is envisioned not merely as a series of sporting events, but as a broader effort to use sports as a means of promoting peace, unity, social harmony and community development, thereby contributing towards the creation of a healthier, more cohesive and progressive society.
