WSYF seeks probeinto death of youth

DIMAPUR: The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has expressed deep shock and concern over the death of Shiwoto Yeptho of Luhezhe village under Niuland district, whose body was reportedly found along a railway track in Dimapur on August 29.
In a press release, WSYF stated that according to family members, a white SUV arrived at his residence on the night of August 28 at around 11 p.m. and took him away. When his body was discovered the next morning, his clothes had been removed and his personal belongings were reportedly missing.
WSYF stated that while it does not wish to jump to conclusions or make allegations before facts are established, the circumstances surrounding his death raise serious questions and concerns. The possibility of foul play cannot be ruled out, though it should not be presumed without a proper investigation.
They strongly urged law enforcement agencies to take up the matter with utmost seriousness and conduct a swift, impartial and comprehensive investigation. It emphasized that every available lead must be examined, including the circumstances of his departure from home, the identity and movements of the vehicle involved, the railway track where his body was found, his missing belongings and the actual cause and manner of his death.
Condemning any act of violence, bloodshed or taking of human life, the WSYF asserted that if foul play or a deliberate criminal act is established, such acts will not be tolerated in society. The guilty must be identified and brought to justice through due process of law to prevent recurrence and ensure community safety and peace.
The WSYF further appealed to investigating authorities to leave no stone unturned in establishing the truth. It stressed that if no wrongdoing is found, the facts must be clearly established and if any person is found involved in a criminal act, the perpetrators must be dealt with according to law. “The truth must come out, justice must prevail and the grieving family must not be left without answers,” the statement read.
