DIMAPUR: School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, organized a 21-Day Student Induction Programme for newly admitted B. Tech students of 2026–27 academic session, from August 12 to September 1.
The programme aimed to facilitate students’ transition from school to university and familiarize them with the academic, professional, social and cultural environment of the University.
A press release by NU stated that the programme adopted holistic approach, covering academic preparedness, Universal Human Values, professional ethics, mental wellness, innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, teamwork, leadership and social responsibility.
A total of 141 students from 14 states of India participated, reflecting the growing national reach of Nagaland University.
Inaugurating the porgamme, Dean SET, Prof. Sujata Dash emphasized interdisciplinary education, collaborative research and innovation to address contemporary challenges such as climate change, healthcare, food security and environmental sustainability.
The programme included orientation sessions on academic and examination rules, institutional expectations, departmental programmes, laboratories, research activities, hostel life and residential discipline.
Industry and entrepreneurship exposure formed another important component, where, interactions with entrepreneurs, industry experts and alumni introduced students to emerging technologies, professional expectations, career opportunities and the practical application of academic knowledge.
A notable session by founder and CMD, DK Tech Pvt. Ltd. Guwahati, Er. Dhiraj Kalita, on “Innovate, Initiate and Inspire” further encouraged students to develop an entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindset.
Students also participated enthusiastically in range of creative, technical and cultural activities, including photography and video-making, short films, reel-making, technical quizzes, idea and pitch competitions, painting, sketching and a traditional attire fashion show.
