The Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (OKM) organised a cultural extravaganza on the theme “Tsurabur Aongmetang” (Echoes of the Forefathers) at the Community Hall premises on Friday.
Assistant Civil Supply Officer Allen Imchen graced the programme as the chief guest, while MMC councillor I Tali Longkumer was the special guest.
Speaking at the programme, Allen Imchen emphasised the importance of preserving culture and traditions while preparing oneself to face the challenges of an increasingly competitive and developing world.
He encouraged the youth to pursue education with utmost dedication, while also urging them to recognize their abilities and limitations. Imchen said one should strive for one’s goals but remain open to alternative opportunities, as there would always be other avenues to pursue.
Observing that conventional “white-collar” jobs were becoming increasingly difficult to secure, except for those who are determined and focused on competitive examinations, he stressed that achieving one’s life goals required earnest education, hard work and a proper understanding of one’s capabilities.
Concluding his address, Imchen urged the gathering to “always keep your family, neighbours and friends in your heart” for a fulfilling and meaningful life.
Short speeches were also delivered by special guest I Tali Longkumer, OKM vice president Tinumayang and AKM vice president Bendangnangba.
The programme began with a welcome address by OKM president Tongpangmangyang Kichu, while Settsu Village Council chairman S Lanu Jamir delivered the words of appreciation. (Correspondent)
