Police constable trampled to death by elephant in Assam

Goalpara, Sep 6 (PTI): An Assam Police constable was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Goalpara district in the early hours of Sunday, a senior official said.
The incident took place at the 17th Assam Police Battalion camp in Dakurbhita, he said.
The deceased has been identified as constable Amjad Ali.
“He was on patrolling duty when a wild elephant attacked and trampled him. He was rushed to Shahid Nidhanuram Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead,” the official said.
Altogether, seven personnel were on duty at the time of the incident, police said.
