DIMAPUR, SEP 7 (NPN): The Phek District U-14 Catch Them Young Sepaktakraw Tournament 2026 was organized on Monday at the Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium, Pfutsero, by the ANPSA Phek Unit in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland.
The programme was chaired by general secretary of ANPSA Pfutsero Division, Atshole Kenye, while District Sports Officer, Phek, Tepulezonu Tetso, graced the occasion as the special guest. In her speech, special guest Tetso congratulated ANPSA Phek for successfully organizing the tournament and encouraged young players to remain disciplined, hardworking and committed to true sportsmanship. She urged students to balance sports with academics and assured full support from the Department of Youth Resources and Sports. She then officially kicked off the tournament.
The ANPSA Phek Unit announced that the winning teams will represent Phek district at the Inter-District U-14 Catch Them Young Sepaktakraw Tournament, tentatively scheduled from September 21–24, 2026, at IG Stadium, Kohima.
The event began with an opening prayer by advisor ANPSA Phek Unit, Vikholie Venuh, followed by welcome address from president of ANPSA Phek Unit, Thepuhu Thira, who emphasized the tournament’s role in promoting unity, discipline and sportsmanship among students.
A special number was presented by Baptist School, Pfutsero and the oath-taking ceremony was administered by chief referee, Stephen Choriya.
The prize distribution was carried out by Advisor, ANPSA Phek Unit, Ado Sakhrie and the programme concluded with a benediction by Chani Roseline.
The association expressed gratitude to the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, ANPSA Central, participating schools, officials and volunteers for making the event a grand success. The programme ended with a fellowship lunch hosted by ANPSA Phek Unit for all players, teachers and guests.
