DIMAPUR, SEP 8 (NPN): The 4th edition of the Late I. Pihoto Awomi Memorial Trophy, organised under the aegis of the Dimapur District Cricket Association (DDCA) and the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), concluded with Veritas CC emerging champions after defeating Esa Boys by 68 runs in an exciting final.
Batting first, Veritas posted a commanding total of 175/5 in 20 overs, with their batsmen displaying composure and aggression to set a challenging target. In reply, Esa Boys faltered under pressure and were bowled out for 107 in 15.3 overs, handing Veritas a convincing victory and the prestigious trophy.
The closing ceremony was graced by honorary general secretary of NCA, Menguvilie Sakhrie, who encouraged the players and assured that his office remains open for suggestions to further the growth of cricket in Nagaland. His presence added significance to the occasion, reflecting the association’s commitment to nurturing young talent and strengthening the game at the grassroots level.
The organisers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the NCA office bearers and officials, DDCA members, participating teams, supporters, well-wishers and friends whose contributions ensured the smooth conduct and success of the tournament. Special appreciation was extended to the umpires, scorers and groundsmen for their dedication and professionalism throughout the competition.
