UCC Ward 20 Dimapur bans business associations

DIMAPUR, SEP 9 (NPN): United Colony Council (UCC), Ward 20, Dimapur, has resolved that shopkeepers and business owners in the colony shall not associate with any business union, association, committee or other business-related organisation within the colony.
In a press release, UCC informed that the resolution was adopted at an emergency meeting convened by the council with shop owners and landlords on August 31, 2026.
According to the council, the decision continues its earlier standing resolution as well as a resolution adopted at the colony general body meeting. UCC acknowledged that organisations were generally formed with the intention of serving the community and addressing common interests. However, it said the mushrooming of unions and associations in Nagaland had attracted criticism from the public and business community.
The council said the latest resolution was adopted in the larger interests of the public and the business community.
It said the resolution would remain in force until it was permitted or amended by the competent authorities and through a resolution of the UCC general body.
The council has appealed to all residents, shopkeepers, business owners, landlords and members of the public concerned to take note of the resolution and extend their cooperation.
