DIMAPUR: District Task Force for Immunization (DTFI) and District Level TB Mukt Bharat Committee meetings were held at the DC’s Office, Kohima, on September 9, 2026, to review progress on immunization, child health, HIV and AIDS awareness and tuberculosis (TB) control activities, besides strengthening coordination among stakeholder departments and community level functionaries. The meetings were chaired by Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem, a DIPR report stated.
During the DTFI meeting, Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro, DPO RMCAH+N Kohima, updated members on immunization activities and appreciated the support of teachers, school staff and Anganwadi workers. He informed that awareness programmes had been conducted in schools, with vaccinations undertaken with the consent of parents and teachers. Collaboration with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) was also discussed, with NCC seeking departmental support for immunization activities during camps.
An update on the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) was presented, covering manpower, implementation mechanisms and referral cases. DC Buchem directed the RBSK team to coordinate with the District Education Officer (DEO), Kohima, for facilitation of schools under the programme. On child mortality, Dr. Avonu Sophie presented two cases involving congenital heart disease and septicaemia leading to septic shock.
Sentimongla Tsudir presented an update on DISHA, focusing on HIV and AIDS awareness and mobilisation under the Intensified IEC Campaign 2026. She informed that 21 villages and 70 schools had been identified for awareness activities in Kohima.
Meanwhile, the District Level TB Mukt Bharat Committee reviewed ongoing TB elimination efforts. Dr. Chibenthung Kithan, District TB Officer, briefed members on guidelines issued during the Pragati meeting and the constitution of the committee. He informed that Block Development Officers (BDOs) had been designated to facilitate TB related activities in each block and proposed forming volunteer teams in collaboration with NCC and MY Bharat Kohima. Members suggested providing certification, orientation and technical guidance to volunteers.
The meeting also discussed the need for a joint account for TB Mukt Bharat, with DC Buchem suggesting that a QR code be provided and circulated to facilitate contributions. On patient adoption, Dr. Chibenthung informed that 342 TB patients are currently registered in Kohima, with around 100 patients having received donor support. He added that AI enabled X ray machines had been provided to strengthen TB detection and screening, though inadequate availability of trained technicians remains a challenge.
