DIMAPUR, SEP, 10 (NPN): The Women’s Volleyball Tournament under SPANDAN 2026, organised by 78 Battalion CRPF in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), was conducted from September 7 to 10 at B/78 BN CRPF, NIDC, Dimapur.
The tournament was held under the aegis of SPANDAN—Sports for Peace and Development across Nations—with women volleyball players competing in a series of closely contested matches.
On September 9, four matches, comprising two quarter-finals and two semi-finals, were played. In the quarter-finals, Titanias defeated Ladies Club 2-1, while MADFA beat Sematilla 2-0.
In the semi-finals, Volaris defeated Unity Club 2-0, while MADFA overcame Titanias 2-0 to secure a place in the championship final.
The championship final is scheduled to be played on September 10 between Volaris and MADFA, while Unity Club and Titanias will face each other in the third-place match. The matches witnessed competitive performances, discipline and sportsmanship from the participating teams. The tournament also provided a platform for women athletes to showcase their talent while promoting unity, peace and healthy competition.
Commandant, 78 Battalion CRPF, congratulated all participating teams for their dedication and commendable performances throughout the tournament. He emphasised that such sporting events play an important role in empowering women, strengthening community relations and fostering national integration.
He also appreciated the Sports Authority of India, match officials, organising staff and supporters for their contribution towards the successful conduct of the tournament. The grand finale is expected to feature an intense contest and showcase the highest standards of women’s volleyball. Sports enthusiasts and members of the public have been encouraged to attend and support the participating teams.
