SP arrested for ‘involvement’ in oil theft

Golaghat (Assam), Sep 10 (PTI): The Co-District Superintendent of Police (CDSP) of Sarupathar in Golaghat district of Assam was arrested on Thursday for his alleged involvement in a crude oil theft case from an ONGC pipeline, police said.
CDSP Dipen Patar was accused of being complicit in the theft that took place at Shyam Gaon under Sarupathar police station on August 3, Golaghat Senior Superintendent of Police Swapnaneel Deka told PTI.
“A few other persons were already arrested on August 29 in connection with the same case. Based on physical evidence that has emerged during the investigation, CDSP Patar was arrested today,” he added.
