DIMAPUR, SEP 11 (NPN): The 9th Inter-School Football Tournament, organised by the Medziphema Town Students’ Union, witnessed two gripping semi-final clashes on Friday in the Higher Secondary section, with SFS Higher Secondary School Team A and Government Higher Secondary School booking their places in the final.
In the afternoon match between SFS-A and SFS-B, in a rare intra-school contest, SFS Team A overcame SFS Team B with a narrow 2–1 victory. Kikruneilie opened the scoring in the 31st minute, giving SFS-A the lead.
The advantage was doubled in the 40th minute when Kikruzelie struck again.
SFS-B responded in the 48th minute through Lungtinngam, but despite relentless attacks and counterattacks from both sides, no further goals were added.
The match ended 2–1 in favour of SFS Team A, securing their place in the final.
In the evening match and second semi-final was a tense battle between King David Higher Secondary School and Government Higher Secondary School. King David took the lead just before halftime when Neisetso scored with a precise finish.
The second half saw both teams create chances but fail to convert. In added time, Hengtinthan equalised for Govt. Hr. Sec. School, pushing the contest into a tie-breaker.
The match eventually went into sudden death, where Government Higher Secondary School held their nerve to clinch victory and advance to the final.
