DIMAPUR, SEP 11 (NPN): The Men’s Open Volleyball Tournament, organised by the 173 Battalion CRPF, Dimapur in collaboration with SAI/Khelo India, concluded on Friday with Playing Spikers emerging as the undisputed champions after defeating Friends Zone in a thrilling final.
The final match showcased exceptional teamwork and athleticism from Playing Spikers, who claimed the coveted title, while Friends Zone earned a commendable runner-up position. The competitive spirit and energy of the tournament drew loud cheers from volleyball enthusiasts, reflecting the growing passion for sports in Nagaland.
The champions, Playing Spikers received Rs. 10,000 + certificates; runners-up, Friends Zone received Rs. 6,000 + certificates; the third place, Team 711 received Rs. 4,000 + certificates), after overcoming Livingstone Foundation College in the playoff.
The grand closing ceremony was graced by Commandant, 173 Bn CRPF, Dimapur, Ashok Kumar Yadav, along with guests of honour: Nokin, ACP Niuland; Principal, Government College Dimapur, Dr. Tiakaba Jamir; Chief Manager, SBI Bazaar Branch, Gwanilie; Principal, St. Stephen’s Higher Secondary School, Dr. Rungkhel Francis Anal; Principal, Evershine School, Dilip Deb.
In his speech, Commandant Ashok Kumar Yadav expressed immense satisfaction with the tournament’s success. He stated, “This tournament was organised with a twin objective. First, to provide a platform to the talented youth of Nagaland to showcase their sporting skills and promote the message of Khelo India and Fit India. Second, under our SPANDAN (Sports for Peace and Development Across Nation) initiative, to further strengthen the bond of trust, friendship, and cooperation between the Force and the public. I am proud to say that both objectives have been fully achieved.”
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates by the dignitaries, marking the successful culmination of yet another meaningful initiative under the SPANDAN programme.
