DIMAPUR: Changtongya Town Baptist Church (CTBA) organised a special revival programme from September 11-13, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the revival fire that first ignited in Changtongya in 1976. Hundreds of believers attended the three day event, rededicating their lives to Christ.
The Christian revival of the late 1970s is regarded as a milestone in Nagaland’s religious history, marking a turning point when revival programmes were held with fervour and the Holy Spirit moved believers to miracles and renewed faith. CTBA was among the first churches where the revival fire began.
The anniversary revival was held on the theme drawn from Psalms 85:6-“Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” Dr. Chujang Aier, president of International Evangelistic Fellowship (IEF), served as the main speaker, assisted by a team of counsellors from different churches.
Life testimonies were shared by believers, including Asangla Luen, daughter of Rev. M.I. Luen, former CTBA pastor and pioneer of the Nagaland Revival movement. She testified to the power of the Holy Spirit and presented a memento memorialising the early revival days of the 1970s to CTBA.
On the final day, a healing service was conducted by Sashi Kichu, pastor of Mongsenyimti Compound Baptist Church. Many ill and weary individuals from Changtongya and beyond, including those joining online, received prayers from the healing team. Worshippers seeking physical and spiritual healing approached prayer warriors and testified to blessings received.
