Committed to equitable justice: Jacob

DIMAPUR, SEP 14 (NPN): Minister for PHED & Cooperation Jacob Zhimomi on Monday said the government was striving to ensure justice to all districts with the resources available, while inaugurating the newly constructed flat type quarter (Type C) for administrative officers at Niuland.
Expressing gratitude to all involved in the project, Jacob acknowledged advisor for CAWD, Kudecho Khamo for his support and guidance, and thanked Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for making funds available for newly created districts. He described the completed quarter as the best possible output for Niuland, noting that the work was completed on time as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Emphasising unity, Jacob urged Naga tribes and communities to move beyond divisions, cautioning that continued factionalism among overground leaders would adversely affect the future of the Naga people. He stressed that unity and Christian values must be demonstrated through action rather than speeches. On development, he observed that Nagaland’s limited industry and commerce restricted employment opportunities outside the government sector, adding that political stability was crucial for equitable growth.
Acknowledging Khamo’s role in establishing district headquarters and administrative infrastructure, Jacob noted that five to six district headquarters had been set up under the State government since 2022.
Addressing the gathering, Khamo said the quarter was initiated under Jacob’s leadership, while funds and administrative decisions were facilitated by the Chief Minister as minister in Charge of General Administration Department (GAD). He highlighted ongoing initiatives for Niuland, including a new Deputy Commissioner Complex, and noted that GAD manages over 1,400 buildings across Nagaland.
Khamo appealed to public leaders, town council members and GBs to support government initiatives and maintain government properties. Describing the Dimapur Niuland Chümoukedima area as a “mini Nagaland,” he urged communities, particularly the Sumi, to shoulder responsibility for peace, cleanliness and unity.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Omegali, EAC HQ, with invocation and dedicatory prayer by Pastor Kughavi V. Zhimo (SBAN). Deputy Commissioner Niuland, T.L. Kiusumong Tikhir delivered the welcome address, while Assistant Engineer Daniel H. Lotha presented the technical report.
According to the report, the Type C duplex quarter comprises two units, each with a kitchen, two store rooms, sitting room and lobby on the ground floor, and three rooms on the first floor including a master bedroom with attached washroom. Construction began in 2023 and was completed in 2026, with RCC frame, slab and Dyna roof. Each unit has a built up area of 1,470 sq. ft. The project includes site development, 24 hour water supply, sanitation, rainwater harvesting and electrification.
