Asian Champions Trophy: India to play Pak on Nov 1

CHANDIGARH, SEP 14 (IANS): India and Pakistan will face off in the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy 2026 on November 1 in Jalandhar, coinciding with Punjab Day. Punjab is hosting the prestigious tournament for the first time, with matches scheduled from October 27 to November 5.
The league stage will take place at the Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar, while Mohali will host the semi-finals and final on November 4–5.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann unveiled the tournament logo, calling it a proud moment for Punjab. He emphasized that the event is more than a competition—it is a homecoming for hockey in a state that has produced generations of champions.
Punjab has contributed over 50 Olympic medallists and 10 national captains, including legends like Balbir Singh Sr., Udham Singh, and Ajit Pal Singh. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, 10 players from Punjab represented India, led by Harmanpreet Singh.
