
DIMAPUR, Sep 14 (NPN): The curtain fell on the 9th Inter-School Football Tournament, organized by the Medziphema Town Students’ Union, with two thrilling finals that crowned Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) and St. Francis De Sales Higher Secondary School (SFS) as champions in the High School and Higher Secondary Divisions respectively.
In the higher secondary division final, the clash between GHSS and SFS Higher Secondary School kept spectators on edge with its intensity and skilful play. SFS broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when Kezhavizo scored with a precise finish. In the second half, captain Amang doubled the lead with a powerful strike from close range, sealing a 2–0 victory for SFS. The win crowned SFS as champions of the Higher Secondary Division.
In the high school division final, the High School Division final saw GHSS face SFS in a high-energy contest cheered on by passionate supporters. GHSS took the lead in the 17th minute through Lhousakhoto, who later added a second goal in the second half to secure a 2–0 win. Despite SFS dominating possession and creating chances, they failed to convert, allowing GHSS to lift the High School Division trophy.
In the individual awards, best goalkeepers were bagged by Mhasilhouto (GHSS, Higher Secondary), Lammik ai (SFS, High School); Best defenders by Shushant (SFS, Higher Secondary), Mhasivoto (GHSS, High School); best players by Vincent (SFS, Higher Secondary), Lhousakhoto (GHSS, High School); highest scorers by Kikruneilie Kera (SFS, Higher Secondary), Viselie Vasa (SFS, High School).
In the special awards, emerging player was adjudged to Lunchong (Modern Christian School) and best disciplined team by Modern Christian School.
