DIMAPUR: A joint verification of the ongoing construction of the District Hospital, Longleng Headquarters, was conducted on September 16 under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner W. Manpai Phom, accompanied by the Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Longleng, concerned engineer from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima, and the contractor.
According to DIPR report, the team carried out a thorough inspection of the hospital site and reviewed various aspects of the construction. Alterations, improvements, and practical suggestions were discussed with the contractor and engineers to ensure the facility is functional and suited to hospital requirements. Particular attention was drawn to the ICU Sister’s Room and the functionality of washrooms, including the need to maintain proper slopes and drainage to prevent water stagnation.
In view of ongoing landslides and road connectivity issues, the Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the contractor to make necessary arrangements to ensure essential construction materials are procured and kept available at the site. The team also discussed using the Tangha–Kangching–Merangkong Road as an alternate route for transporting materials if the main highway becomes inaccessible.
As the hospital building nears completion, the DC emphasised the importance of stationing concerned engineers at the site during the final stage to facilitate timely supervision, resolve technical issues, and ensure completion as per approved specifications.
