According to a press release, the programme focused on improving financial knowledge and helping families, Self Help Groups (SHGs) and livelihood entrepreneurs make better financial decisions. CEO, Akehda Amulung Kiphire conducted a session on financial literacy, covering topics such as earning, spending, saving, borrowing and financial protection.
Participants were encouraged to prepare household budgets, track daily expenses and develop the habit of regular saving. Special attention was given to SHG financial management, where participants learned about maintaining proper records of savings, loans and repayments, and following Panchasutra principles-regular meetings, regular savings, internal lending, timely repayment and up to date books.
The session also explained responsible borrowing, stressing the importance of understanding interest rates, fees, total repayment amounts and schedules before taking loans. A session on digital financial safety advised participants never to share OTPs, UPI PINs, ATM PINs or passwords, and to remain alert against fake links, fraudulent calls, QR code scams, fake rewards and loan offers.
Other topics included insurance, government financial inclusion schemes, banking services and livelihood entrepreneurship. Participants were encouraged to keep household and business money separate, maintain proper business records and understand actual costs and profits.
The programme concluded with a practical 7 day money action plan, encouraging participants to record income, track expenses, save regularly, check bank records, review SHG records, learn fraud prevention and set financial goals.
The programme was attended by members of the local community and aimed at strengthening financial awareness and responsible money management at household and SHG levels.
