DC Kohima notifies on holding events

DIMAPUR: District Administration, Kohima has streamlined the process for obtaining permission to conduct programmes and events in and around Kohima Town.
In a notification issued by District Magistrate Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, it was stated that the measure was necessitated by the increasing number of applications from organisations and institutions seeking permission to hold programmes and events.
The notification informed that prior permission/permit will be issued only after submission of the required No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and documents, as applicable. The requirement aims to ensure effective crowd and traffic management, safeguard public safety, and minimise inconvenience to the public during such programmes.
Mandatory documents include an No Objection Certificates from the Police, and for programmes likely to affect vehicular movement or public roads, an NOC from the Traffic Police. An NOC from the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) will also be required for programmes proposed within the municipal area, wherever applicable.
Organisers are further required to obtain an NOC from the concerned Village Council, Khel Council or Colony Panchayat, depending on the location of the programme. In addition, permission or NOC from other relevant departments, authorities, institutions, landowners or stakeholders may be required depending on the nature and specific requirements of the event.
