Annual Youth Meet held at Salesian College, Dimapur

DIMAPUR: Around 700 young people from 18 centres in and around Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur, participated in the Annual Youth Meet 2026 on Sunday under the theme “Instruments of Peace.”
The youth meet brought together young people for a day of faith, fellowship, animation, games and cultural activities, encouraging them to become promoters of peace and to strengthen bonds of friendship and community.
The programme began with registration, singing and animation, followed by Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Deli Kapani David, vice provincial of the Salesian Province of St Francis de Sales, Dimapur. The Eucharistic celebration formed the spiritual foundation of the gathering, with the theme of peace reflected in the participation of youth from different centres.
A total of 49 Philosophy students, along with Ursuline novices, MSMHC sisters, FMA sisters, and B.Ed Brothers, assisted in organising and coordinating the activities, including animation, cultural and recreational programmes.
The cultural programme featured presentations from centres such as Holy Family–Burma Camp, Lengrijan, Model Village, Chittronala, Lahorijan, Samaguri, Singrijan, Diphuphar Angami, Diphuphar A, Dhobinala, Infant Jesus, Chekiye, and Girjaline, with a special number presented by MSMHC.
Competitions formed an important part of the youth meet. In the Reels Making Competition, Lahorijan secured first place, followed by St Francis, Dhobinala in second, and Singrijan in third. Consolation prizes went to Chittronala, Holy Family–Burma Camp, and Langkhailu.
In the Drawing Competition, Preeti Urang won first place, while James Kithan of Model Village secured second, and Maria Tiru of Chekiye Village third. Consolation recognitions went to Lahorijan, Metale Kharia (Singrijan), John Rohit Kujur, and Jowana Kujur (Girjaline).
The programme also included chance games, cultural presentations and a prize distribution ceremony. Fr. Dominic Ralte, Youth Director, distributed the prizes, while Fr. Samuel Gangmei, Dean, delivered the vote of thanks.
The Annual Youth Meet 2026 concluded with a renewed emphasis on fellowship, creativity and the role of young people in building peaceful communities.
