KOHIMA, SEP 20 (NPN): In a significant gesture of community solidarity, the Global Shapers Kohima Hub on September 20 handed over the registration proceeds from “Run for Hope 2026” to two organisations working in the field of mental health and suicide prevention.
The Hub contributed a total of Rs. 22,400, with Rs. 11,200 in cash presented to the Gracious Life Foundation, Chümoukedima and utilities and recreational equipment worth Rs. 11,200 donated to the State Mental Health Institute, Kohima. The organisers emphasised that this contribution symbolises the collective support of all participants, volunteers, sponsors and partners of the run.
The handover followed the successful organisation of “Run for Hope 2026”, a 5 km community run held on September 10 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. Conducted under the theme “Every Step Gives Hope”, the initiative mobilised over 450 individuals, with nearly 200 participants completing the run. The event aimed to encourage open conversations on mental well-being and suicide prevention while transforming community participation into tangible support for local mental health efforts.
Organisers highlighted that the donation was not only about raising awareness but also about channelling resources directly to organisations working with communities and individuals affected by mental health concerns. They expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining conversations and actions around mental well-being in Nagaland.
The Global Shapers Kohima Hub stated that Run for Hope 2026 reflects the spirit of collective responsibility and community-driven change, pledging to continue supporting initiatives that promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
