DIMAPUR, SEP 24 (NPN): NSCN (I-M) has appreciated the Government of India for appointing retired IPS officer and former Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) chairman Ajit Lal as the new interlocutor for the Indo-Naga political talks.
In a press release, NSCN (I-M) described the appointment as a “significant and encouraging development”, saying it reflected the Centre’s renewed resolve to advance peace process with seriousness and urgency. It also welcomed inclusion of a Union minister/group of Union ministers in the negotiation framework, saying this would “expedite the political process” and create momentum towards an honourable and enduring political settlement.
NSCN (I-M) expressed gratitude to the state government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio for its “sincere participation and active facilitation” of the Indo-Naga political dialogue. It said the state government’s constructive engagement had helped sustain the peace process and keep the voices of the Nagas central to negotiations. The group also thanked the Naga people for their “unwavering support, solidarity, and prayers” for its negotiation team and leadership, describing their faith and resilience as the “moral foundation” of the struggle and a source of hope for a just political solution.
NSCN (I-M) reaffirmed its commitment before God and the Naga people to securing an honourable and enduring political solution at the earliest. It appealed to the Naga people to continue praying that God may restore the “rightful place of the Naga nation” with dignity and in accordance with their collective aspirations.
