DIMAPUR: Deputy chief minister of Nagaland and Leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Yanthungo Patton, has congratulated and welcomed the eight legislators from the United Democratic Party (UDP), Meghalaya, who formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on September 23 at the BJP Headquarters in New Delhi.
The induction ceremony was held in the presence of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, BJP National president Nitin Nabin, National Spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra, National Secretary Anil K. Patton conveyed his best wishes as they continue their journey of public service, emphasizing their role in advancing the welfare and development of the people of Meghalaya and the North-East.
With the joining of the eight MLAs, the BJP’s strength in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has risen from two to ten members, making it the second-largest party in the House.
Patton described the development as a “significant political milestone” and a new chapter in the legislators’ service to the people.
Expressing confidence in their experience and dedication, the deputy chief minister noted that their contributions would further strengthen the collective endeavour towards the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
