DIMAPUR: Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS) under the Department of Health and Family Welfare has announced that Aadhaar linkage with Ayushman Cards will be mandatory for beneficiaries to avail healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) at empanelled hospitals.
According to NHPS, during the initial rollout of AB PM-JAY between 2018 and September 2022, Ayushman cards were issued without Aadhaar linkage for beneficiaries identified through the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) and Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) databases. However, with the ongoing beneficiary mapping exercise on the National Health Authority’s IT platform, Aadhaar linkage has been made compulsory.
An analysis of records in the Beneficiary Identification System (BIS) revealed that over 1.14 lakh Ayushman cards in Nagaland remain unlinked with Aadhaar. The NHPS has urged all cardholders whose cards were generated between 2018 and September 2022 to verify their Aadhaar linkage status and complete the process if pending.
Beneficiaries can link their Aadhaar through multiple channels, including: Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Common Service Centres (CSCs), Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), Card vendor agencies, any empanelled PM-JAY hospital. The deadline for completing Aadhaar linkage has been set for November 30, 2026. NHPS cautioned that failure to comply within the stipulated period may result in the disabling of Ayushman cards. In such cases, beneficiaries will be required to undergo fresh e-KYC through the BIS portal to reactivate their cards.
To assist beneficiaries, NHPS has also published a list of individuals whose Aadhaar is yet to be linked with their Ayushman cards. The list is available at NHPS Aadhaar Linkage List.
This move, NHPS emphasized, was aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability and seamless access to healthcare benefits under AB PM-JAY.
