DIMAPUR, SEP 26 (NPN): Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Nagaland organised a two wheeler rally on Saturday under the “Seva Sankalp Yatra Abhiyan” as part of the nationwide commemoration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life as head of government.
The rally commenced with a gathering at 4th Mile Agri Expo before proceeding towards Showuba, where it was flagged off by minister for PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi. The rally concluded at Samagooting Stadium, Chümoukedima.
Addressing the gathering, Jacob thanked participants for responding to the call of the party and taking part in the programme cutting across political lines. He said the commemoration of Modi’s 25 years in public life was being observed across the country, including Nagaland, with various programmes organised in different districts.
He noted that the country had witnessed significant changes in governance since 2014 under Modi’s leadership, with policies and schemes implemented under the guiding principle of “Antyodaya” to ensure that the benefits of development reached the last person and the remotest village. He also highlighted India’s progress in poverty reduction, mentioning that the country’s governance model was being studied internationally.
Calling for unity and trust, Jacob said every citizen should be regarded as a stakeholder in the State. “The State belongs to each and every Naga. We cannot discriminate anybody. We have to learn to appreciate one another,” he said. He further called for respect for both incumbent and former leaders, stressing the need for social harmony and collective effort for the welfare of the people.
Dwelling on the significance of Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Jacob said the programme conveyed the message of working together beyond political affiliations. He maintained that while some States had single party governments and others were governed by alliances, there was a need to adopt the best possible policies beyond party lines.
Jacob further added that BJP’s 12 legislators in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly stood for the Nagas, and called for collective efforts to improve governance and the socio economic condition of the State. He said Nagaland needs to apply “best minds” towards building a peaceful, progressive and prosperous State and contribute towards the national goal of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
It may be noted that around 40 to 50 two wheelers took part in the rally organised by BJYM.
