DIMAPUR: As part of the ongoing drive against spurious IMFL and intensified routine checking, Kohima Police on September 28 intercepted a transport carrier within the jurisdiction of Zubza Police Station.
According to PRO of Kohima Police, upon checking the vehicle, the police team found it loaded with 7,740 bottles of IMFL, each of 750 ml capacity, with an estimated value of approximately Rs. 50 lakh. The driver was taken into custody, and a detailed investigation is underway to trace the source of the consignment and ascertain the identities of the supplier, owner, and intended buyer. During the inspection, it was also found that a “BSF Duty” marking had been placed on the windshield of the vehicle, apparently to mislead and evade suspicion during police checking. The use of such markings is also examined as part of the investigation to establish the modus operandi adopted for transporting the illegal consignment, PRO said. Police said further details would be shared as the investigation progresses.
