Militant, student leader held in Mnp

Imphal, Sep 29 (PTI): A militant and a student leader have been arrested from two places in Manipur’s Imphal East district for their alleged involvement in kidnapping and extortion, police said on Tuesday.
A joint team of security forces arrested Waikhom Hero Meetei (23), an active member of Kangleipak Communist Party (Nongdrenkhomba) from Sanjenbam Khunou in Imphal East district, on Monday for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a woman from her residence in the district, an official said. In the district’s Luwangsangbam areas, security forces arrested Waikhom Sena (24), the president of Manipur Students Federation (MSF), who was also an active member of the banned National Revolutionary Front Manipur, police said.
He was allegedly involved in publishing and drafting articles on behalf of the outfit on social media and in dailies, and in unauthorised money transactions. An extorted amount of Rs 2.67 lakh and a laptop have been seized from him, they said.
