DIMAPUR, Sep 29 (NPN): The Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) will organize the G. Rio Memorial Volleyball Trophy, the 13th Kohima Open Volleyball Tournament for Men and Women, from October 29 to 31 at Khuochiezie (Kohima local ground).
The tournament will carry a total prize pool of Rs. 4.60 lakh. In the men’s category, the champion team will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1.50 lakh, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs. 80,000. The losing semi-finalists will receive Rs. 25,000 each.
In the women’s category, the winning team will be awarded Rs. 80,000, while the runners-up will receive Rs. 50,000. The losing semi-finalists will be given Rs. 15,000 each. Individual awards will also be presented for Best Spiker and Best Setter in both the men’s and women’s categories, with each award carrying a cash prize of Rs. 5,000.
The registration fee has been fixed at Rs. 5,000 for men’s teams and Rs. 3,000 for women’s teams.
KDVA informed that the tournament is exclusively open to local teams from Nagaland and is being organized to facilitate player selection for the forthcoming inter-district volleyball tournament. While local teams may recruit players from outside the state, only a maximum of two such players will be permitted on the court during a match.
