Around 40 students from schools across Kohima district will participate in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest 2026-27, organised by Lions Club of Kohima on October 3 at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
According to a press release, the contest will be held on the theme “Harmony in Humanity” and is open to students aged 11 to 13 as of November 15, 2026. Participating students will be accompanied by their teachers.
Students from 20 schools in Kohima district are expected to take part in the contest, including Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Assam Rifles Public School, Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Fernwood School, Dainty Buds School, Loyola Higher Secondary School Jakhama, Kigwema Government Higher Secondary School, G. Rio School, St. Paul School Phesama, Grace Higher Secondary School, Vinyüzo Higher Secondary School, Model Higher Secondary School, Northfield Higher Secondary School, Chandmari Higher Secondary School, Rev. Dr. Neiliezhü Üsou Memorial School, JO Foundation Inclusive School, Little Flower Higher Secondary School, PM SHRI Government High School New Market and Government High School Phezoucha.
The Peace Poster Contest is an international programme of Lions Clubs International that encourages children aged 11 to 13 to express their understanding of peace through art. Winning entries at the local level advance to district, multiple district and international judging.
At the local level, the winner will receive a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 from the Lions Club of Kohima. The winning poster will then compete at the district level and may advance to the international final.
The contest will be conducted under the leadership of Lions Club of Kohima president Lion Er. Talitemsu Jamir, with Lion Max Menuse-O Marius, secretary of the club, serving as contest chairperson. Artist Ruokuoselhou Miachieo will judge the posters based on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme.
At the international level, the Grand Prize Winner will receive US $5,000 and an award at a special ceremony hosted by Lions Clubs International in the United States, while 23 Merit Award winners will each receive US $500 and a certificate of achievement.
The Lions Club of Kohima has been conducting various community service activities in and around Kohima, with the Peace Poster Contest being one of its youth-focused programmes.
